My Story

Hi! I'm Bethany. ♡

If you're here, you're probably pregnant, looking for a birth doula, and hoping to learn a little more about me.

I'm a wife, Momma of four home-birthed babies, a Christian, and a passionate birth doula.

I started my journey towards becoming a doula in 2017 when I supported my baby sister through her first birth. While that is the first birth I supported as a doula, my journey of researching information surrounding pregnancy and childbirth began with my own first pregnancy 2 years earlier. I vividly remember searching the library shelves for every birth related book, joining all of the natural birth groups on Facebook, and trying to learn as much as I could to prepare myself for my first birth. Fortunately, God directed my path, and I discovered some resources that I still recommend to every pregnant Momma, like Ina May Gaskin's book, Guide to Childbirth

I switched to a licensed homebirth midwife and hired a birth doula at 32 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I wish I had done both of those things a bit sooner, but thus began my introduction into doula work! My doula was amazing. She was so amazing the first time that I hired her again for my second baby. If finances had allowed it, I would have for my third and fourth births as well! (I was wishing I had with that fourth birth that turned out to be 48 hours!)

Along with having my own personal experience with unmedicated birth, I have breastfed my babies as well through several unique breastfeeding experiences including exclusively pumping, nursing through pregnancy, and tandom breastfeeding.

In 2023, I officially became a certified birth doula, and opened my own business called Heaven's Helping Hands Doula Services. I have served hospital births, homebirths, cesarean births, and even a birth center birth throughout my journey.

My goal as a doula is for every Mother that I support to feel heard, respected, and empowered in her own decisions surrounding her labor and birth experience. My own births with respectful care providers and a supportive doula have placed my expectations for birth experiences very high. I believe that this helps me to be a better birth doula for the women that I serve.

As your doula, I provide three prenatal appointments to help you prepare for labor and birth, assist with creating your birth plan, and provide in-person support from the time that you feel you need support in labor until a few hours postpartum. I also provide one postpartum visit after birth in your home.

If you feel drawn to get in touch about me serving as your doula, I would be happy to   chat over coffee about supporting your birth!

Bethany is passionate about informing her clients of all their options and if she doesn't have the answer to something, she will find it for you. Her heart is in everything she does and she helped my husband and I feel prepared for labor and we had a much better experience with our 2nd birth (compared with our first when we had no doula) thanks to her support. At our postpartum visit she spent 4 hours helping me make sense of my birth story, then cleaning my floors and brought me a homemade frozen meal for dinner. I definitely would recommend her services.
